End BAE Partnership with Keep Scotland Beautiful!

Dear Mr Fisher,  I am writing to express my deep concern about the disgraceful sponsorship of Keep Scotland Beautiful's campaign 'Upstream Battle' by BAE Systems. A company that has such a devastating impact on human life and the environment should have no place at the heart of this campaign, especially one that supposedly inspires younger generations and creates stronger communities. Arms company BAE Systems have made billions supplying the Typhoon and Tornado aircraft that have been central to Saudi Arabia's destructive attacks on Yemen, killing thousands, displacing millions and creating the world's largest humanitarian crisis. How can a family-friendly campaign with communities and the environment at its core be sponsored by the same company arming one side of a war that has led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people over the last seven years? I urge you to bring an abrupt end to the sponsorship of 'Upstream Battle' by BAE Systems. Funding from an arms company who directly profit from conflict and repression should not align with the values of Keep Scotland Beautiful. Also, when planning future campaigns, please reconsider accepting sponsorship from companies looking to legitimise their hugely damaging effects on people and planet. I call on you to include weapons manufacturers within any ethical fundraising and sponsorship policies for Keep Scotland Beautiful, and avoid collaborating with companies whose core business exacerbates conflict, the climate crisis and contributes to the destruction of life. Keep Scotland Beautiful should be advocating for actions that contribute to life and the environment, not destroying it.
