Following the murder of George Floyd - yet another death of a black person at the hands of the police - protests in the US against racism and police violence have been met with further state violence. The President has threatened to deploy the military against the people and seek ‘total domination’.
The UK government has licensed the sale of anti-protest weapons of the type that have been used in violent attacks on protesters, journalists and others in the United States. The UK’s own export control rules say that arms exports should not be licensed where there is a clear risk that they might be used in repression.
Please ask your MP to support the cancellation of these licences, and call on the UK Government to recognise and take action against our own structural racism and state violence in the UK.
